Ostend, the city of Arno Hintjens, and where one of the best stories in music history unfolded. In the 1980s, Marvin Gaye lived in this coastal town for 18 months. He was brought there by Freddy Cousaert from London, where he had been staying for a while. He had fallen on hard times; the IRS was looking for him in America, no longer had a record label, and he was on narcotics. Entrepreneur, club owner, and tour promoter Freddy Cousaert (hero) initially let Marvin live with them and his family and later arranged a seaside apartment for him. During these 18 months, he worked on the album "Midnight Love," which became a worldwide hit. It's wonderful to walk around the places where this happened.
